agentdatabot
AgentDataBot is a legitimate automated crawler operated by AgentData, a vendor supplying structured web data and retrieval pipelines for AI agent workflows. Its stated purpose is to discover and fetch publicly accessible pages so that AgentData can build indexes, embeddings, and context datasets used by its commercial agent platform. The crawler is documented as a first-party data acquisition agent, not a user-triggered fetcher, and it feeds the AgentData Data Cloud and agent retrieval services.
AgentDataBot uses an asynchronous HTTP/1.1 and HTTP/2 crawler that requests HTML, PDF, JSON, and plain-text resources; it usually sends HEAD or conditional GET requests with If-Modified-Since and If-None-Match to reduce bandwidth. Observed request rates are conservative by default, with burst behavior during index refreshes, and the bot may follow redirects and sitemaps to enumerate URLs. AgentData documents crawl-source validation through reverse DNS and published IP ranges, so administrators should verify forward-confirmed reverse DNS for *.agentdata.ai or the bot's current published prefix list. It supports robots.txt retrieval, sitemap discovery, and gzip compression, and it does not execute JavaScript by default unless a rendered-fetch mode is enabled for a specific crawl.
AgentData's public bot documentation states that AgentDataBot honors Robots Exclusion Protocol directives, including Disallow, Allow, and crawl-delay, and that its crawler checks robots.txt before fetching a URL. The same guidance says the bot will not bypass authenticated areas, forms, or paywalls, and will stop crawling paths disallowed for its user agent.
The canonical User-Agent begins with AgentDataBot/1.0 and includes a verification URL such as +https://agentdata.ai/bot; requests may also carry an X-AgentDataBot-ID header or a reference to the crawl job. Behavioral fingerprints include sequential URL paths from sitemaps, low concurrency per host, and reverse DNS names in the agentdata.ai domain.
Data collected by AgentDataBot is used for AI training and fine-tuning corpora, retrieval-augmented generation indexes, entity extraction, and analytics that power AgentData's agent products. The vendor states that only publicly available content is collected and that data is processed under its privacy policies.
