🛡️ CVE-2020-2315 — visualworks-store
Description
XXE vulnerability in Jenkins Visualworks Store Plugin
Jenkins Visualworks Store Plugin 1.1.3 and earlier does not configure its XML parser to prevent XML external entity (XXE) attacks.
This allows attackers with the ability to control the output of a script that run Visualworks with StoreCI, or able to control an agent process, to have Jenkins parse a crafted file that uses external entities for extraction of secrets from the Jenkins controller or server-side request forgery.
Jenkins Visualworks Store Plugin 1.1.4 disables external entity resolution for its XML parser.
How this vulnerability can be exploited
This issue can be reached over the network, attack complexity is low, an attacker needs low-level privileges on the target. No user interaction is required. The scope is unchanged, so the impact stays within the vulnerable component. Rated impact: confidentiality high, integrity none, availability none.
Weakness class
CVE-2020-2315 is classified as CWE-611: XML External Entity Reference (XXE). An XML parser resolves external entities, letting a crafted document read local files or reach internal services.
