🛡️ CVE-2022-38099 — nuc-11-compute-element-cm11ebc4w-firmwar
Description
Improper input validation in BIOS firmware for some Intel(R) NUC 11 Compute Elements before version EBTGL357.0065 may allow a privileged user to potentially enable escalation of privilege via local access.
How this vulnerability can be exploited
This issue can be reached with local access to the system, attack complexity is high, an attacker needs administrative privileges on the target. No user interaction is required. The scope is changed, meaning a successful attack can affect components beyond the vulnerable one. Rated impact: confidentiality high, integrity high, availability high.
Weakness class
CVE-2022-38099 is classified as CWE-20: Improper Input Validation. The application accepts input without checking that it has the expected form, so malformed values reach code that assumes they are well formed.
