🟠 CVSS 7.9 — High ✅ No Known Exploit CWE-362 NVD
7.9
CVSS Score

Description

HVM guest I/O port accesses are subject to either emulation or at least

translation. Translations are managed by the device model (via

XEN_DOMCTL_ioport_mapping), and hence the linked list used may changed

at any time. Traversal of those lists (while handling guest I/O port

accesses) therefore needs synchronizing with updates, which was missing

so far.

How this vulnerability can be exploited

This issue can be reached with local access to the system, attack complexity is low, an attacker needs low-level privileges on the target. No user interaction is required. The scope is changed, meaning a successful attack can affect components beyond the vulnerable one. Rated impact: confidentiality low, integrity low, availability high.

Weakness class

CVE-2026-42487 is classified as CWE-362: Race Condition. Concurrent operations share state without proper synchronisation, so timing decides whether the result is correct.
