Description

A flaw in Node.js Permission API can cause a file metadata to be modified even on a path that was set as read-only with e.g. --allow-fs-read.

This vulnerability affects all supported release lines: Node.js 22, Node.js 24, and Node.js 26.

How this vulnerability can be exploited

This issue can be reached with local access to the system, attack complexity is low, an attacker needs low-level privileges on the target. No user interaction is required. The scope is unchanged, so the impact stays within the vulnerable component. Rated impact: confidentiality none, integrity low, availability none.
