Original Advisory

uuid before 14.0.0 can make unexpected writes when external output buffers are used, and the UUID version is 3, 5, or 6. In particular, UUID version 4, which is very commonly used, is unaffected by this issue.

How this vulnerability can be exploited

This issue can be reached with local access to the system, attack complexity is high, an attacker needs no privileges on the target. No user interaction is required. The scope is changed, meaning a successful attack can affect components beyond the vulnerable one. Rated impact: confidentiality none, integrity low, availability none.
