Description

Malicious code in claims-page-maker-types (npm)

Source: amazon-inspector

On require() of claims-page-maker-types, index.js loads _adapter.js which runs at module load. _adapter.js selects a platform-specific asset, fetches an opaque binary over HTTPS from one of four hardcoded Cloudflare workers.dev hosts (oob-worker.cf103-070.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf99-9b3.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf100-416.workers.dev, oob-worker.cf101-adf.workers.dev) with a DNS TXT fallback under wel1.ru (sdk.dl.wel1.ru), writes the payload to a disguised temp path (.cache_<hex> on Unix, dotnet_diag_<hex>.exe on Windows), chmods it 0755, and spawns it detached via /bin/sh -c or cmd. Host strings are assembled by Array.join from split fragments to evade plain-text scanners, filenames mimic system diagnostics, and a stamp file (analytics_state) throttles re-execution while comments frame the behavior as 'telemetry'. No pinning, no signature verification, and the destination hosts are not the package's registry or publisher infrastructure.
